Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Golf course in Rome, New York is looking for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
This is a physically demanding position. The essential functions require the incumbent to perform routine activities such as digging with a shovel, pulling with a rope, climbing ladders, using common hand tools such as rakes, hammers, knives, saws, chain saws, clippers, etc Will lift up to 80 pounds frequently. Must be able to operate motor vehicles and heavy equipment.

Summary of Responsibilities:
• In season schedule: (April 1st-Oct 31st) 45+ hours per week, 8-10 hours on week days & 4 hour shifts every other weekend.
• Cooperative management and oversight in regards to course maintenance, landscape maintenance, course construction projects.
• Capable of operating all golf course maintenance equipment.
• Proficient in the pesticide applications on greens, tees, fairways, roughs and other areas.
• Actively involved in chemical, fertilizer and water management programs.
• Aids in purchasing, inventory and labor tracking and general budget management.
• Trains and oversees seasonal employees to execute daily operations efficiently.

Requirements:
2-Year Turf Management Certificate, Associate’s, Bachelor’s degree in agronomy or relevant field.
1-2 years previous Assistant Superintendent experience is preferred.
2 years in a managerial role.
Licensed NYS Pesticide Technician or ability to obtain licensing within 2 months of hire.
Must be able to work outside in all types of weather and maintain a flexible work schedule, which may include weekends and holidays.
Experience applying fertilizers and pesticides.
Irrigation repair proficiency, snow removal experience is preferred but not required.
Verified experience in all aspects of daily golf course maintenance including, but not limited to; mowing, rolling, hand watering greens, daily course setup, and proven communication skills.

Compensation:
$35,000 – $40,000 per year.
