Country Club in Alexandria, Virginia is looking for a Head Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
Essential Responsibilities:

• Comfortable working in a highly collaborative manner with the General Manager and other Department Heads and providing thoughtful input and leadership to committees and the Board.

Management:
• Responsible for all day-to-day golf operations at our facilities to ensure a high level of member/guest satisfaction.
• Responsible for all fiscal areas and performance of the golf operations.
• Oversee and lead an enthusiastic team.
• Develop and implement procedures to ensure all players and guests, green fees, golf carts, handicap fees, and other charges are captured, to facilitate accurate accounting and recordkeeping.
• Maintain a constant dialogue and strong working relationship with the senior management: General Manager, Comptroller, Golf Course Superintendent, Event Manager and Board of Governors.
• Coordinate plans with Food and Beverage teams for needs related to outside events, tournaments, and other golf functions.
• Coordinate written correspondence to members regarding the golf operations and events.
• Compile and analyze competitive market information to assist in properly positioning the club.
• Maintain an active presence within the regional professional golfing community.

Golf Operations:
• Meet, greet, and welcome members, guests, prospective members and patrons.
• Enforce all rules, regulations, and policies regarding golf course usage.
• Establish goals for all golf programs and services; monitor, review, and analyze reports.

Member Services:
• Develop and manage an innovative tournament schedule and golf activities program that services all customer segments.
• In partnership with the Director of Instruction, develop and oversee high-quality golf instruction and golfer development programs.
• In partnership with the Director of Instruction, oversee and promote a multifaceted junior golf program.
• Oversee the operations of the practice facility.

Golf Shop Retail Operations:
• Management of the merchandise concessions, consistent with member needs.
• Attractively display merchandise and maintain proper controls over golf-related inventories.
• Ensure timeliness of member orders.
• Oversee and enforce retail operations, procedures, and controls to ensure the safekeeping of assets and inventory.

Skills:
• Outgoing personality with a focus on customer service and building lasting relationships.
• Ability to recruit, hire, train, and manage the golf staff.
• Ability to manage multiple facilities and courses.
• Plan and implement excellent tournaments, outings, and leagues.
• Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to provide high-quality golf instruction to players of all skill levels.
• Excellent golfing skills and a comprehensive understanding of the game and its rules.

People:
• Oversee, hire, and supervise golf operations personnel including golf professionals, instructors, golf shop staff, cart and range staff.
• Oversee scheduling and staffing for daily needs and special events.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with individuals, managers, and committees.
• Provide effective leadership for golf operations, giving direction to individuals and motivating and supporting them to achieve the organization’s vision and objectives.
• Produce staffing and succession plans for all aspects of golf operations staff, identifying workforce requirements needed to achieve the organization’s current and future objectives.
• Ensure that all members of the golf team receive coaching and mentoring in providing appropriate opportunities to develop skills, knowledge, and experience to enhance their performance and advance their careers.

Financial:
• Prepare yearly budgets and capital expense requirements and forecasts as required.
• Monitor monthly results; explain variances from budget; and take prompt corrective action to address variances, ensuring each operating area is maximizing efficiency and profitability.

Compensation:
$95,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year.
