1st Assistant Golf Professional
Golf course in Lincoln, California is looking for a 1st Assistant Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
As a member of the Golf Management Team the 1st Assistant Golf Professional is responsible and accountable for the daily operations of the golf shop staff, guest service staff, Golf Instruction, and coordinates with the Head Golf Professional to provide first class service for our members and guests. This includes meeting or exceeding our established standards for employee experience, member/guest experience, retail and membership sales, and financial performance. You must lead by example, taking a proactive position to all issues concerning the sports shop and guest services. Additional duties may be assigned as required.

Key responsibilites (Include but not limited to):
• Assist the Director of Golf in achieving revenue targets through the maximization of rounds and revenues.
• Maintain an active classification as a Class A Member of the PGA of America.
• Identify and implement innovative market strategies to stay ahead of the competition.
• Act as a mentor for the development of staff in all related areas. It is the responsibility of a Golf Professional to educate, train, retain and develop team members in golf operations, tournament organization, golf instruction, merchandising and proper member registration procedures.
• It is the responsibility of the 1st Assistant Golf Professional to maintain effective communication between all staff members in regards to course operations and Human Resource issues.
• Interview, hire, and council with staff members as needed.
• Create a fun, safe, and productive work environment.
• Responsible for guiding all apprentices in their pursuit of his/her class A Membership in the PGA of America.
• Responsible for appraising performance of team members including rewarding and disciplining. Reviews of immediate staff are to be conducted in accordance with the guidelines specified and in a timely fashion.
• Directly supervise staff by carrying out the responsibilities in accordance with the policies and procedures. This will include planning, assigning, and at times performing activities of workers supervised.
• Lead by example, setting a benchmark of performance in the areas of innovation and motivation.
• Accept responsibility for personal decisions and actions.
• Spontaneously recognize and celebrate team member success.
• Assist with the formulation and establishing of operating procedures and goals.
• Assist in establishing and managing purchase order programs, department checkbooks, contribution reports, and budgets for all operations at the Club property.
• Proactive in exceeding member/guest satisfaction. At times it may be necessary to investigate, quickly respond to, and resolve challenges from members/guests.
• Oversee and assist in all tournament operations with Head Golf Professional.
• Ensure superior standards of service are meeting the requirements of our members/guests and employees, and ensure these standards are constantly being improved upon. This may mean being creative in seeking new ways to get things done.
• Attend exhibitions, buying shows, tournaments and educational seminars to stay abreast of the development in the golf industry.
• Meet with staff at all levels to plan for the future of golf as well as expediting the needs of the current expectations.
• Develop a common vision amongst team members of a desired future state.

Requirements:

Maintain PGA of America membership in good standing in an active classification.
Actively pursue PGA membership (if a PGA Apprentice) in a timely manner.
Advanced knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
Advanced supervisory practices and principles.
Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
Self-motivated with desire to promote and market.
Service and customer focused attitude.
Experienced in written and oral business communications.
Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies.
Experienced computer user including; Foretees, Golf Genius, Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e. email, internet, tournament and database.
Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.
Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends.
Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations.
Minimum PGA PGM completion: Level 2.

Compensation:
$22.00 – $25.00 per hour.
