Head Golf Professional
Golf course in Culpeper, Virginia is looking for a Head Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
As a member of the Golf Management Team, the position has the responsibility for the overall management of the golf operation while working cooperatively with other departments.

Golf Operations Management:
• Oversee the reservation system, starting, monitoring, and pace of play.
• Track and verify all players and guests, green fees, golf cars, club care, lockers, handicap fees, and other charges; ensure accurate accounting and recordkeeping.
• Manage golf car fleet, ensuring proper maintenance and recordkeeping.
• Develop and manage innovative tournament programs, group outings, and leagues for all customer segments.
• Oversee operations of a well-managed practice facility.
• Provide professional club repair and fitting services.
• Ensure proper storage, safety, and cleaning of golf equipment.
• Play golf with a variety of members and guests as time permits.
• Administer the Rules of Golf, educate staff, and promote Rules of Golf clinics for members.
• Develop, maintain, update, and utilize the customer database.

Player Development:
• Develop and oversee enhanced golf instruction programs, offering individual and group clinics for all levels.
• Ensure availability of professional instructors where required.
• Develop and oversee player development programs.
• Utilize PGA of America player development tools and resources.
• Focus on programs for women, families, seniors, and juniors.
• Assist in staff training regarding player development and encourage participation.
• Collaborate with the employer to create Player Development marketing strategies.

Golf Administration:
• Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and supervise all golf department staff.
• Ensure evaluations and annual reviews are completed for staff.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and hold meetings for golf operations personnel.
• Maintain and update golf shop policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
• Assist in publications of newsletters, informational, and promotional materials.
• Administer the golf handicap program.
• Consult closely with golf committees and attend relevant meetings.
• Enforce policies and procedures within the facility.
• Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding facility programming, staff, and customer updates.

Business and Financial:
• Manage the financial and operational performance of golf shop operations and services.
• Achieve financial goals and objectives.
• Assist in developing budgets and reviewing golf operations revenues and expenses daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.
• Ensure systems controls safeguard assets, revenues, and resources.
• Apply yield management techniques to maximize course usage in alignment with facility goals.

Other Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with department heads to achieve facility objectives.
• Support the General Manager in promoting new member leads, assisting prospective members, and orienting new members.
• Coordinate food and beverage plans with the General Manager/Events Coordinator for golf functions.

Requirements:
Maintain PGA of America membership in good standing in an active classification.
Actively pursue PGA membership (if a PGA Associate) in a timely manner through the PGA program.
Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations, and tournament operations.
Fundamental supervisory practices and principles.
Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
Self-motivated with a desire to promote and market.
Service and customer-focused attitude.
Experienced in written and oral business communications.
Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies.
Experienced computer user, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e., email, internet, tournament, and database.
Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.
Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends.
Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations.

Compensation:
$45,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year.
