Assistant Golf Professional
Golf Resort in Plymouth, Indiana is looking for an Assistant Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
This is a dynamic position encompassing work in the Golf Shop, our Academy and with other departments of the resort. You will work alongside the Director of Golf and Head Professional in the management of day-to-day golf operations of our 36 hole Golf Resort. A passion for overall golf operations and a desire to advance your career is a paramount trait for this position. You’ll work with every type of golf guest. We have an incredible tournament operation program. You will be able to teach and fit. You will have access to 4 PGA Professionals with over 90 years of combined experience. You will have the opportunity to experience every managerial aspect and department of our Resort.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Take a leadership role in Co-Managing along with other golf Professionals and Inside Golf Staff a multi-course tee sheet and assist in making sure guests are checked in, pace of play is good, guests are enjoying themselves and monitor the future tee sheet for any issues.
• Assist and back up Inside Staff on Check in and teetime making- take a primary role in answering the phone.
• Observe #1’s and #10’s tees at all times to make sure everything is going smoothly.
• Work with the Starter/Outside Staff to make sure they are getting groups to the tee, assist as necessary.
• Close observation of midday turn to make sure groups are getting to the #1 tees.
• Close observation of Pace of Play through the GPS System- see the problem quick and before it becomes a major issue.
• Marshall the course as necessary.
• Take a leadership role in closing business- fittings and lessons- answers the questions and booking business.
• Assist Jeni with SNP tags as she needs.
• Always be looking at the teesheet (daily and forward looking) for problems/concerns.
• Booking weekly leagues into the teesheet throughout the season.
• Be engaged with guests in asking how they are doing, if they need anything, how is your stay.
• Understand what we do, how we set up, what needs to be done- anticipate what’s needed, what comes next.
2. Assist the Director of Instruction in Academy and conduct on your own the teaching of groups, individuals and juniors and conduct Club Fittings using Flight Scope which will include equipment sales.
• Conduct Professional Club Fittings.
• Fittings on the fly- if time permits and customer is with you offer to assist in getting them components put together and possible fitting them on the spot.
• Be involved in PGA Junior League and Sunday Junior Golf.
o Be organized and communicating schedule needs on this to Ryan.
3. Assist the Director of Golf and Head Professional in all aspects of Staff Management
• Provide back-up assistance to the staff whenever is necessary in outside operations- cart prep, cart cleaning, cart movement.
• Assist the Starter.
• Be aware of what needs to be done daily and at closing and provide direction to the staff as needed.
• Assist with the range on sand and seed.
• Have to separate yourself from them as a leader even though you are close in age.
4. Golf Merchandising (Award Winning Golf Shop).
• Assist with display, unpacking, pricing and selling.
5. Tournament Operations on a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis.
• Be aware of what’s going on and where to sign up.
• Have a full understanding of formats.
• Always be promoting.
• Conduct Group EZ Tournament Services for various SNP Groups.
• Conduct the Indiana Open Qualifier alnong with Sam.
• Assist in all Club Member Events- run the August Member/Member.
6. We have every type of golf guest and events and leagues for everyone including our Membership program with 260 members which rivals any Private Club Operation.
• Be fluent in our programming and pricing, field the inquiries in the Golf Shop or via the phone.
• Sell and renew memberships- take good notes for Chad.
7. Coordinate all aspects of our Monday Night Men’s League with 30 teams and 60 players.
• Weekly emails, pairings, subs, scorecards, pairings sheets, names in tee sheet, scores entered and results tabulated, results emailed and posted.
• Putting proxies and signs out and picking up.
8. Manage the Golf Handicap service and system for the Resort.
• Be aware of how to activate, de-activate, create new and edit score postings
• Handicaps printed daily and 2 copies on Mon-Wed-Fri.
9. Play golf often with a variety of guests as needed and desired. Sub in leagues, play in Thur evening group.
10. Involvement in development, implementation and promotion of all current and future golf programming.
• Provide any ideas/suggestions.
11. Exemplify, promote, sell and execute and operation dedicated to the enjoyment of and serving of others on a daily basis. Build relationships daily!
• Always be engaged in any way you can with the guests.
• Put their experience first.
12. Lead the club repair operation at the Resort- ordering, installing and receiving payment.
• Typically a 2 day turnaround but if you can deliver sooner or handle onsies, twosies, threeies- go for it.
• Don’t over promise and under deliver.
• $1 per grip comes back to you so sell a bunch.
13. Co-Manage the Golf Car Fleet and Visage GPS System of 130 golf cars.
• Be aware of what’s happening with the fleet- damages, repairs, issues.
• Conduct cart counts when necessary.
• Always be observing the basement- report issues to Chad.
• Towing carts as needed.
14. Spend time in every department learning.
15. Ask as many questions as you can, always be curious.
16. Record Keeping- Listen well, take good notes, phone, email and details, be organized.
• Mentioned previously- don’t over promise and under deliver.
17. Run it like you own it- if it were yours or if you were me, what would you do and what would you be watching.
18. Strong phone skills.
19. Strong Interpersonal skills-relationship building.
20. Handle painting of Drop Zones all season- Silver 2, 4, 7 and Black 2, 4, 8, 14.
21. Get up to speed on our P.O.S. Agilysys
• Own how to operate and navigate.
• Handle Membership Renewal.

Requirements:
While experience in the industry is welcome and desired, we are dedicated to training the skills and providing the tools necessary for you to enter or continue your path to becoming a PGA Professional.
Experience in golf instruction and club fitting and/or willingness to learn and study.
Ideally will be enrolled in PGM Program, but will consider right candidate that is just beginning in the business and has motivation to begin process towards PGA Membership.
Fundamental knowledge of the game, rules, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
Fundamental supervisory practices and principles.
Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
Self-motivated with desire to promote and market the company along with golf course and academy products and services.
Service and guest focused attitude.
Experienced in written and oral business communications.
Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies.
Experienced computer user including: Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications i.e. email, internet, tournament software, Blue Golf, Point of Sale applications.
Maintain and promote a positive, professional image within the community.

Compensation:
$600.00 – $712.50 per week.
