Assistant Golf Professional
Country Club in Albuquerque, New Mexico is looking for an Assistant Golf Professional.
Position Overview:
Assisting in the organization, coordination, and delivery of an elite golf operation and Member experience while providing direction in areas including staff recruitment and development, merchandising, tournaments, teaching/player development, club fitting, finance, etc.
General Operations including:
• Helping build a culture of providing great Member service while assembling an amazing team.
• Providing a great member experience through assisting with and at times leading effective management of all areas of golf operations.
• Assisting with implementation of coordinated administrative purposes to provide guidance in all phases of golf operation.
• Work closely with Head Professional and all other department heads to achieve the goals and objectives of the facility.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Responsible for providing leadership in the absence of the Head Golf Professional by interviewing, training, scheduling, evaluating performance and providing disciplinary action as necessary for other golf shop staff, implementing new processes and procedures as directed by management.
• Check members and guests in, utilizing the Point of Sale (POS) system, for processing purchases, credit card transactions, answering the telephone, and managing the reservation system in accordance with AGC standards.
• Handle member/guest service issues in a prompt and effective manner.
• Utilize tee sheet demand management and demand generation strategies such as opening on time, implementing a double tee system, and paring short groups.
• Maintain the golf shop environment by keeping the shop neat and orderly: straightening and stocking merchandise, assisting Merchandiser with display of new merchandise (steam, ticket, fold, display), and vacuuming the shop each day and as needed; following corporate guidelines for opening and closing duties; tallying tee sheet at end of day.
• Conducting inventory control and merchandise detailing on a monthly basis.
• Promoting all club activities and events and assists in running all club tournaments, events and golf outings.
• Building and providing the weekly work schedule for golf department services.
• Maintain a professional and service-oriented environment in the golf shop by utilizing excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ensure service continuity in the golf shop by maintaining a flexible work schedule
• Able to teach private, group, and programed lessons.
• Implement and support all AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management.
• Other duties may be assigned by management.
Requirements:
PGA of America Associate or Class A membership in good standing in an active classification preferred.
Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
Fundamental supervisory practices and principles.
Act as a role model by demonstrating the behavior, work ethic and look that is expected of all employees.
Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
Self-motivated with desire to promote and market.
Service and customer focused attitude.
Experienced in written and oral business communications.
Remain up to date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other applications, i.e. email, internet, tournament software.
Experience specifically with programs like ForeTees, EZSuite, Golf Genius.
Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.
Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, trade shows and continuing education to keep abreast of marketing and business trends.
Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations and relevant software/tools.
