Golf Course Superintendent
Country Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
Scheduling daily tasks, turf monitoring, irrigation scheduling, water efficiency, on-course team training, bilateral communication in and out of the department, understanding golf and the effects of daily decisions, and orchestrating the Golf Course Maintenance Team to maximize efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist the Director of golf course maintenance and club grounds in all aspects of the facility management, including club grounds.
• Oversee and implement all crew and operating procedures’ daily scheduling. Use all available resources, including other team members, to complete tasks.
• Schedule and modify the irrigation system to maximize water usage.
• Use best management practices to keep golf course set-up and golf course conditioning level up to the standards.
• Coach and train team members on proper the procedures and practices.
• Communicate with the equipment manager on mowing schedules, tournaments, and special equipment needs.
• With input from the Director of Golf Course Maintenance and club grounds, supervise all special construction projects.
• Play golf and understand the importance of daily tasks and how they affect daily playing conditions.
• Make employee and member/guest satisfaction and safety a top priority.
• Act as the Director of golf course maintenance when they are not available.
• Proper set-up of the golf course for member/guest play.
• Keep hand tools, motor-powered tools, and equipment inventoried and properly stored.
• Assist equipment technician with keeping gas and oil checked on a daily basis.

Secondary Responsibilities:
• Schedule and implement greens, fairways, and tee aerification with specialized equipment.
• Schedule and implement Fertilizer/Plant protectant applications.
• Keep lists of daily tasks, items of importance, and future projects.
• As requested, attend green and golf committee meetings as well as the weekly the team meeting.
• Keep updated chemical and fertilizer records
• Assist with special projects.

Requirements:
A degree or certificate in turfgrass management/golf course management or a related field preferred.
Two years experience in a golf course maintenance operation.

Compensation:
$70,000 – $75,000 per year.
