PGA Head Golf Professional
Country Club in Cambridge, Minnesota is looking for a PGA Head Golf Professional.
Position Overview:
Established in 1969, Purple Hawk Country Club is a member-owned, semi-private golf course located just 3.5 miles north of Cambridge, MN. Known as “One of the best kept secrets in the north metro” by Minnesota Golf Magazine, our course stretches from 6,711 yards (Blue) to 5,390 yards (Red) with four sets of tees—providing a fun yet challenging experience for players of all abilities.
Our facilities include a full-service Pro Shop with in-house club repair, a two-tier driving range, practice bunker, and two practice greens. In 2025, we proudly opened our new state-of-the-art clubhouse, featuring modern amenities, full service pro shop, and Sandbagger’s Bar and Grill. Our new facility is designed to elevate both member and guest experiences. We are proud to host MGA and member tournaments throughout the season.
Requirements
1. PGA or LPGA Member in good standing.
2. Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Professional Golf Management, Business Administration, Sales/Marketing, or related field preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of golf instruction, rules, tournament operations, and equipment.
4. Proven leadership and team management skills with ability to mentor and motivate staff along with running a financially successful business.
5. Food & Beverage management experience a plus
6. Experience in human resources, payroll, labor law compliance, and basic financial/tax reporting strongly preferred.
7. Excellent organizational, planning, and communication abilities.
8. Experience with POS systems, Microsoft Office, tournament software, and digital marketing tools.
9. Self-motivated, energetic, and member-focused, with a strong desire to promote and grow the game.
10. Maintains a credible playing ability and commitment to teaching innovation.
11. Working knowledge of Golf Genius and/or other golf related technology.
Essential Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and oversee all aspects of the Pro Shop, including staff hiring, training, supervision, and scheduling.
2. Lead all member and guest services, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience.
3. Oversee human resources functions, including employee relations, payroll, compliance with state and federal labor laws, and staff development.
4. Coordinate and ensure accurate sales tax reporting and financial compliance for golf operations.
5. Manage the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of food & beverage staff; coordinate operations between golf, F&B, and event teams.
6. Work in close collaboration with the Course Superintendent to ensure the golf course is always in outstanding condition, meeting member and guest expectations.
7. Collaborate with the board on creation and implementation of long term strategy and vision for the course.
8. Organize and execute member tournaments, leagues, and outside events in partnership with the Tournament Committee utilizing technology
9. Lead golf instruction, clinics, and player development programs for all ages and skill levels.
10. Manage the golf cart fleet and coordinate daily operations with grounds, food & beverage, and event staff.
11. Serve as the liaison between the membership and the Board of Directors, attending monthly board meetings and reporting on golf operations.
12. Promote membership growth and community engagement while enhancing the overall club experience.
13. Support and grow the Purple Hawk Junior Golf Foundation programs.
14. Represent Purple Hawk professionally in the local golf community and industry associations.
