Golf Course Superintendent
Golf course in Saint Paul, Minnesota is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
To maintain and improve a Ramsey County golf course and grounds, including all buildings, structures and landscape; to supervise subordinate employees in maintenance activities at a golf course, and surrounding property; to develop alternative recreational uses for the land during the off-season; and to perform related duties as assigned.

Examples of Work Performed:
1. Promote a diverse, culturally competent, and respectful workplace.
2. Oversee the maintenance operations of a County golf course by ensuring the healthy growth of the golf course grounds grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials.
3. Supervise the maintenance operations of a County golf course by planning work schedules, assigning jobs to subordinate employees and conducting orientation and training.
4. Supervise/oversee new construction and course modifications with outside contractors.
5. Assign and train personnel to improve playing conditions of the course and implement internal projects for course improvement.
6. Prepare requisitions for the purchase of equipment and supplies and maintain an adequate supply of necessary tools and supplies for course maintenance.
7. Diagnose turf grass diseases, insect and weed infestations.
8. Periodically repair golf course equipment by replacing broken parts or upgrading equipment.
9. Make budget recommendations to the Director of Operations related to personnel, supplies, services, and equipment needs for the upcoming year.
10. Recommend course alteration and design changes for greens, tees, fairways and other lawn areas in order to improve playing conditions of the course.
11. Determine whether the grounds are in suitable playing condition and when their use, including golf carts, should be prohibited.
12. Keep records and make written reports on golf course operations, maintenance, and related matters.
13. Communicate and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.

Requirements:
Associate Degree in Turf Management or a related field.
Experience: Five years of experience in golf course maintenance.
Substitution: Additional education in turf management or a related field may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required experience. An additional two years of relevant experience may substitute for one year of the required education.
Certifications/Licensure: Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must have a valid Minnesota Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator License or meet the requirements for licensure in another state that can be transferred to Minnesota.

Compensation:
$66,164.05 – $98,230.34 per year.
