1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Club in Bluffton, South Carolina is looking for a 1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
Be involved in all aspects of golf course maintenance. This position is ideal for someone who is willing to work hard and is looking for the opportunity to gain experience and move their career towards becoming a Golf Course Superintendent. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will assist the Golf Course Superintendent in managing the daily operations of the golf course. This role is critical to maintaining the course’s high standards and ensuring it meets the expectations of our members and guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in golf course management, a keen eye for detail, highly motivated, and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the planning and execution of agronomic programs to maintain high-quality turf conditions including spraying, as needed.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of the turf management team.
• Conduct regular inspections of the golf course and make recommendations for improvements.
• Manage the irrigation system, including scheduling repairs and adjustments.
• Assist in budgeting and record-keeping related to course maintenance.
• Develop and implement staff training programs to enhance team skills and performance.
• Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent to plan and execute seasonal maintenance and renovation projects.
• Address and resolve any issues related to course conditions, equipment, or staffing.
• Make application of pesticides and fertilizers, including documentation of all applications made to golf course.
• Assist Mechanic if needed and learn basic cutting unit adjustments.

Requirements:
A 2-year degree or certificate in Turf Management or Agronomy is required.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have a positive attitude, a passion for golf and the turf industry.
Must be able to move or pick up heavy objects.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Ability to lead, motivate and interact with others in a team environment.
Strong knowledge of agronomy, turf management practices, and irrigation systems.
Proficiency in the use and maintenance of golf course equipment.
Excellent leadership, training, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Compensation:
$60,000 – $71,000 per year.
