Director of Golf
Country Club in Camarillo, California is looking for a Director of Golf.
Position Overview:
Essential Responsibilities
• Oversee all fiscal areas and performance for the golf operations including planning, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and correction
• Establish sales goals and forecasts for all golf programs and services; review and analyze reports, and take corrective action based on actuals and forecasts
• Oversee the management and performance of all golf shop and applicable department operations and services; assure high standards and total member and guest satisfaction
• Establish golf shop operations personnel policies and ensure proper hiring, training, supervising, personal development, and corrective action in accordance with established policies
• Oversee the development of operating procedures and training manuals for the golf operation
• Coordinate plans with the Food and Beverage Director for all food and beverage needs, on-course food and beverage needs, member golf events, and Monday Tournaments for all golf functions
• Coordinate and ensure all written emails and communications for the golf operation to members and staff
• Develop and oversee an innovative tournament schedule and golf activities program that services men, women, and junior golfers
• Develop and oversee golf instruction, clinics, golf schools, and player development programs for all golf member levels
• Develop and oversee a profitable merchandise program that is consistent with the brand and member wants within the constraints of inventory, buying, merchandising, and purchase order procedures
• Enforces all club and golf policies, rules, and regulations, including but not limited to pace of play and 8 guest rounds in a rolling calendar year.
• Maintain a close working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent and other department heads
• Play golf with customers/patrons of all skill levels as time and duties permit to build relationship with golf members
• Maintains clean and orderly appearance in pro shop, bag room, merchandise room, cart barn, and all other golf operations facilities
• Schedules staff hours to assure that members are fully served and that labor costs are maintained; regularly checks timecards for adherence to posted schedules and required meal breaks.
• Supervises golf play of members and guests from the first tee and maintains starting times according to the club’s rules and regulations.
• Plans social evenings and events to promote golf and fellowship among members and guests.
• Is present during club operating hours and events to assist in meeting and greeting members and guests.
• Effectively responds to member relations comments & questions in accordance with club standards, policies, and rules and in a friendly manner; uses ideas, feedback, and suggestions to continuously improve the services provided to members.
• Consistently exceed member needs, following up and resolving issues in a timely manner.
• Consults with the General Manager about golf course and practice range operations, maintenance, and rules.
• Cooperates with the grounds superintendent about maintenance issues that affect the playability of the golf course.
• Assists in the development of short- and long-range plans for improvements to the club facilities and courses.
• Assists in supervising and inspecting design improvements and capital outlays to golf facilities.
• Promotes golf activities using table tents, newsletters, direct mail flyers, electronic communications, and other means.
• Plans and develops training programs and professional development opportunities for himself or herself and all other subordinates.
• Serves as manager on duty as scheduled.
Requirements
• Class “A” PGA Professional required.
• A minimum 3 years of experience as Director of Golf at a private club.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience with merchandising, ordering, purchasing, and inventory management.
• Four-year college degree preferred.
• Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
• Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
• Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Service and customer focused attitude
• Effectively communicate with guests and employees in a friendly and positive manner.
• Follow-up and resolves issues in a timely manner.
• Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Compensation
$115,000.00 per year.
