Assistant Golf Professional
Golf Course in Branford, Connecticut is looking for an Assistant Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
Duties include but are not limited to: assisting the HP with all aspects of the day to day golf operations, golf shop merchandising and inventory control, tournament operations, teaching/playing golf with members and staff, and assuming the HP’s duties in his absence.

Essential Responsibilities:
Operations:
• Spread hospitality and goodwill among all members, guests and fellow staff.
• Welcome all members and guests around the club; anticipate and assist in their daily needs.
• Coordinate daily play with the use of tee times and manage golf course pace of play.
• Interpret and enforce the Club’s rules and regulations and ensure that the rest of the golf staff is familiar with and enforces these rules.
Financials
• Generate information through point-of-sale system.
• Assist the HP and Accounting with reports and record keeping.

Staffing/Mentorship:
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees, Club officials, members, and guests.
• Help supervise the outside operations team members to ensure day-to-day activities meet HP standards.
• Assist the HP with recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of the outside staff.
• Set the example for presentability in both appearance and attitude and ensure that the rest of the golf staff always meets the standards.

Merchandising
• Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe working environment, with emphasis on promoting employee health and safety.
• Ensure the golf shop is clean, orderly, well stocked, and professionally presented at all times.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, pricing, and bar coding.
• Offer advice using product knowledge, recommend products and services to meet member and guest requirements.

Tournaments
• Run select events with the help of the Lead Assistant & HP.
• Promote and advertise club events to encourage participation.
• Be creative with new ideas for tournament formats and itineraries.

Instruction/Playing
• Provide quality private lessons and group clinics.
• Perform golf club repair services.
• Play golf with members of all skill levels.
• Maintain playing ability and represent POYCC in PGA Chapter, Section and National tournaments with the approval of the HP.

Continual Development
• Constantly put time and effort into growing professional skills related to teaching, club fitting, tournament operations, team motivation, golf shop merchandising and any other related golf operations areas.

Additional Tasks:
• Additional duties and special projects as determined from time to time by the HP.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
Prior experience as an Assistant Golf Professional in all facets of golf operations including inventory and merchandising, tournament operations, golf instruction, and working knowledge of golf course maintenance.
Familiarity in golf rules and regulations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Golf Genius tournament software.
Knowledge of Point of Sale preferred.

Compensation:
$1,000.00 per week.
