1st Assistant Golf Professional
Country Club in Pebble Beach, California is looking for a 1st Assistant Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
Assists the Head Golf Professional in overseeing all golf operations and ensuring that all daily functions are carried out in accordance with club guidelines.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
• Ensure involvement with all areas of daily golf operations, with a concentration on the operation and teaching.
• Act as a mentor, lead the golf staff commensurate with the Mission Statement, Core Values and Plan for the Future.
• Control and monitor starting times and play; keep the Head Golf Professional apprised of rate of course play issues.
• Greet and assist members and guests with golf registration, scheduling tee times, and answering questions.
• Respond to situations which demand assistance with carts, bags, and any other Member related service.
• Ensure the proper charging to member’s accounts for the collection of fees from guests, green fees, cart fees, merchandise, and services.
• Monitor and maintain the condition and cleanliness of the Pro Shop facilities.
• Manage demo and rental clubs.
• Inventory soft and hard goods to ensure that consistent supply is maintained; apprise Golf Shop Manager when necessary.
• Participate in physical inventories when scheduled.
• In conjunction with the Director of Instruction, provide age and skill appropriate golf lessons and clinics to members and their guests.
• Remain familiar with and interested in the game of golf, including knowledge of USGA rules of golf, tournament operations and other basics.
• Promote the game of golf and provide positive public relations.
• Follow the opening and closing procedures to ensure the Pro Shop buildings are always secure.
• Assume full responsibility of the operation in the absence of the Head Golf Professional.
• Uphold the PGA Code of Ethics.
• Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in keeping with the tradition of the company.
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings.
• Ensure all services to members are provided in a highly professional and efficient manner with strong attention to detail.

• Ensure work environment is safe and Codes of Safe Practices are adhered to consistently. Report injuries timely. Report injuries timely.

Requirements:
Strong knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf.
Ability to play the game of golf at a level commensurate with a PGA professional.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook and ability to operate standard office equipment.
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, assess problems, and problem-solve to meet deadlines.
Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to be flexible, adaptable and customer service oriented.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to manage a group of employees and train, direct, motivate, discipline in accordance with Club policies and State and/or Federal law.
Ability to work independently in the accomplishment of a wide variety of duties.
Ability to work successfully with a variety of individuals with various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in person, electronically, and/or by telephone, with internal and external customers.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule with holiday, weekday, and weekend availability.
Ability to maintain a professional image and appearance as outlined in Employee Handbook and departmental standards.
Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
Two years’ experience working in golf pro shop and/or outside services.
PGA Class A Member in good standing; or enrolled in and actively working towards PGA Membership.
Private club or resort experience preferred.
Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US.

Compensation:
$80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year.
