Summer Golf Course Intern
Golf Course in Sullivan Schermerhorn is looking for a Summer Golf Course Intern.

Position Overview:
Internships will include daily course and grounds maintenance of the newly restored golf course, while understanding the importance of the many agronomical practices we engage in on a daily basis. Educational opportunities will be tailored to each person’s goals and experience, creating a truly personalized and memorable learning opportunity. The goal of our internship program is to challenge each intern to grow both as a person and as a professional. Upon completion of the internship program, interns will be prepared and empowered to advance to the next step in their career. Students who have previously completed the internship program have gone on to hold top tier positions throughout the country, as well as management positions within our own team. The most successful candidates will be motivated, curious self-starters looking to grow in the golf course and grounds industry.

What you will do:
• Golf Course Maintenance:
o Implement and execute daily maintenance schedules on a championship level course.
o Implement and execute daily maintenance schedule on championship level course.
o Golf Course Set Up – creating unique layout on a daily basis according to golf course conditions.
o Create practices necessary to maintain championship conditions.
o Utilize data collection and analysis for precision turfgrass management including drone thermal imaging.
o Lead and motivate small crews and projects.
• Pesticide Application:
o Obtain MN Pesticide Application License.
o Calibrate fertilizer spreader and sprayer.
o Apply pesticides: walking boom and riding sprayer (GeoLink Sprayer with auto steer).
o Fertilizer application: walking spreader and tractor spreader.
o Complete tasks and provide thorough record-keeping.
• Irrigation System and Repair:
o Basic controller operation: Toro Lynx.
o Satellite operation: Toro Network VP.
o Pipe and irrigation head repair.
o Pump Station Operation: Flowtronics.
o Portable sprinkler set-up and hand watering techniques.
• Understand the entire operation thoroughly, including:
o Turf Management Plan.
o Landscape Management Plan.
o Environmental Program.
o Budgeting Process: Operational and Capital Budgets.
o Golf Maintenance Policies and Procedures.

Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year turf grass management program or related area of study.
May require current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
Must be 18 years or older.

Compensation:
$18 per hour.
