Assistant Golf Professional
Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama is looking for an Assistant Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
Responsible for promoting the game of golf through an operational structure which provides for a “first-class” environment for Members and their guests. Responsible for assisting with all golf operations at the Club; carts, bag room, golf shop, golf programs and camps, tournaments, outings, etc. The position will be assist in the supervision and training of golf shop attendants, cart and bag room attendants, to ensure high customer satisfaction. The position will assist in preparing for all golf outings including coordinating scorecards, cart labels, rules sheets, and hole assignments. Assist in administering all daily operations including, but not limited to: facilitating sales, assisting with merchandise, operating POS system, managing handicap and tee sheet applications. Involved in all facets of our golf operations which include; growing the game through instruction, tournament operations, merchandising, practice facility management, on-course player management and outside operation supervising. Work closely with the Director of Golf and the other Assistant Golf Professioanl in developing and successfully executing the best member programs and tournaments in the area.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Assists the Director of Golf with recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of the outside services staff.
• Assists the Director of Golf l with PGA Junior League, Junior Camps, Operation 36 and other group instruction.
• Assists with merchandising and inventory control
• Assists with managing all aspects of golf operations including day to day play and tournaments.
• Provides and interprets golf policies, rules and regulations.
• Provides members with club fitting and golf club repair services.
• Assists in the coordination of tournaments and special events.
• Prepares, updates and maintains tee sheets and tournament score boards for tournaments and events.
• Performs starter or marshal duties as needed.
• Maintains an attractive, orderly appearance in and around the pro shop, practice facilities and other golf related areas to create a high quality environment.
• Devotes a reasonable amount of time to play golf with members of all skill levels.
• Represents the Club in area professional events including local, state or national events with the approval of the Director of Golf
• Interprets and enforces the Club’s rules and regulations and ensures that the outside services staff is familiar with and enforces these rules.
• Consults with the Director of Golf about golf course and practice range operations, maintenance and rules.
• Ensures that all staff are presentable, well groomed and in established uniforms at all times.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe working environment, with emphasis on promoting employee health and safety.
• Follows directives and completes assignments with a minimum of supervision.
• Attends and actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
• Performs all work according to established procedures.
• Works under the general supervision and direction of the Head Golf Professional. Directs any employment and personnel concerns to the Head Golf Professional
• Avails him/herself, to the best of his/her abilities, to directly assist in the furtherance of member
satisfaction. Always maintains a friendly, hospitable and helpful attitude with all members, guests and fellow employees.
• Any other duties as assigned by management.
• Applicant must be willing to work most weekends, and holidays.
• Work closely with the Outside Service Staff; monitoring and maintaining the required pace of play, assisting in the supervision and training of both outside service staff and interns, work alongside the outside service staff to ensure all areas of the operation run smoothly, and managing the practice areas and bag room.

Requirements:
High School diploma.
Established playing ability preferred.
Experience in playing and competing in Golf Tournaments at the High School or Collegiate level preferred.
Prior experience in golf operations preferred but not required.
Knowledge of golfing rules and regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of typical golf course procedures.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel,and Golf Genius tournament software.
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme heat and cold.
Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
Frequent repetitive motions.
Continuous standing and walking.

Compensation:
$35,000.00 per year.
