Director of Golf
Golf course in Beech Mountain, North Carolina is looking for a Director of Golf.

Position Overview:
Oversee and manage the golf operation and work cooperatively with other departments. The position will promote an exceptional “golf experience,” and provide excellent services and programs to all patrons. As the face of the golf operation and leader of the golf staff, this person must be highly visible and available. High energy and constant attention to detail and membership needs are a must. Must have a passion for exceeding member and guest expectations with a commitment to excellence. Must have experience working in a club environment, and the ability to hire, motivate and train seasonal service staff.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Establish a highly visible presence during hours of operation to provide membership and staff with your availability and expertise; greet members and oversee actual service on a routine basis.
• Recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of all staff including assistant and teaching professionals, outside assistants, starters, and rangers. Maintain an environment of excellence in quality and service. Train staff to their understanding of your expectations. Monitor employee dress to comply with policy.
• Implementation of policies and procedures and regular scheduling of staff meetings.
• Comply with the terms, duties, and responsibilities of a tangentially operated business agreement.
• Oversee the reservation system, starting, and monitoring of play.
• Track and verify all players, golf cars, club care, club storage, handicap fees, and other charges, and facilitate proper controls. Responsible for the proper accounting and reconciliation of the club point of sale (Jonas) system and member charges/disputes.
• Oversee the administration of the handicap program.
• Develop and utilize Golf Genius tournament program to service all customer segments. Promote four major club tournaments, club championships, weekly association play, golf shop games, and lessons/clinics.
• Oversee the operations of a well-managed practice facility.
• Maintain a close working relationship with the superintendent and other department heads.
• Orient new members to the various aspects of the golf program.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of all golf revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
• Oversee and approve all weekly golf staff time sheets/payroll, purchase orders, and invoices.
• Assist in the publication of newsletters, informational, and promotional materials.
• Monitor and take corrective action as necessary to assure that budget goals are attained; approve all invoices before timely submission to accounting department.
• Labor management including compliance with wage and hour laws.
• Address member/guest rule violations and complaints; advise GM about appropriate corrective actions taken.
• Maximize use of golf course and range with a can-do attitude; manage tee times.

Requirements:
Holds PGA of America Class A membership in good standing.
Multiple years tenure in a high-quality private club or resort.
5+ years’ experience as a head professional preferred.
Previous experience as a director of golf at one or more locations will be considered a plus.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Excellent strategic planning, business management, financial, and budgeting skills.
Experience in the management of a profitable golf shop operation.
Demonstrated experience providing superior member service and staff training/development.
Ability to develop and promote innovative tournaments and programs to generate interest and maximize participation, revenues, and facility usage.
Team-oriented working cohesively with co-workers.
Professional appearance and ability to retain and motivate staff.
A friendly disposition and ability to get things done with tact and grace.
Maintain confidentiality of club business and membership information.
College degree preferred.
