Summer Golf Course Intern
Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina is looking for a Summer Golf Course Intern.

Position Overview:
Our internship program offers students hands-on experience with operating machinery, applications of fertility and pesticides, record keeping, irrigation management, calibrations, and daily tasks for golf course set up. Interns will be working first-hand with our Superintendent, John Szklinski, as well as the Assistant Superintendents and learning what it takes to maintain at the highest level. Along with the hands-on experience interns will participate in weekly educational programs, led by our Superintendent, where you will learn about professionalism, marketability, irrigation, time management, budgeting, soil testing, nutritional requirements and timing, pesticides, and equipment maintenance. Interns will also get the opportunity to sit in on a Greens Committee meeting and learn the political/communication side of our operations. Throughout this internship you will gain understanding of the responsibilities of a Superintendent as well as learn the necessary skills to achieve success.

Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a two or four-year turfgrass management or related program.
Prior experience on a golf course is desirable, but not required.
We enjoy working with positive-thinking students who have a high desire to learn and engage in open discussions and educational opportunities that are a significant part of the internship.

Compensation:
$20 per hour.
Rent and utility free on-site housing in a well-maintained four-bedroom, two-bath home, uniforms, golfing privileges, and lunch is provided by the club.
