Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Course in Sorrento, Florida is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
The position reports to the General Manager and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. The position in this job develops and maintain an 18-hole golf course. The position spends time on development and administrative issues and delegates the daily maintenance tasks to the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The Superintendent exercise professional judgment and technical knowledge in turf management practices and golf course maintenance; ensure that the course’s conditions and playability are monitored and that daily operations and other pertinent data are recorded; oversee proper care and maintenance of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, trees, ornamental plants and lakes; analyze turf for disease, insects, nutritional needs and other turf-grass stress problems, select and apply appropriate fungicides, insecticides, fertilizers and other measures to resolve problems. The position maintains the irrigation system for the golf course.

Requirements:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Worked in other golf courses or related industry.
Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree with course work emphasis in turf grass and golf course management; supplemented by three (3) to five (5) years previous experience and/or training that includes turf grass management, with supervisory experience in golf course maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Possession of a State of Florida Chemical Applicator License and a valid driver’s license.
Florida Golf Course Best Management Practices Certification (within 6 months)
Florida Green Industries (within 6 months).

Have knowledge of:
Golf course operations and maintenance.
Rules of Golf.
Sprinkling and irrigation systems.
Use and/or effects of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, and/or fertilizers.
Principles, theories, and practices of parks/recreation/clubhouses.
Agency, professional and/or industry standards and practices
Principles, theories, and practices of purchasing goods and services.
principles, theories, and practices of budget management principles, theories, and practices of records management
Proper and safe application of various styles of equipment.
Methods and techniques for mowing.
Practices and techniques for repairing and maintaining equipment.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
Ability to move heavy objects.
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Ability to diagnose troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work.
Ability to communicate effectively and keep business records.
Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.

Compensation:
$55,000 – $65,000 per year.
