Assistant Golf Course Superintendent-in-Training
Country Club in York, Pennsylvania is looking for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent-in-Training.

Position Overview:
The position reports directly to Green and Grounds Superintendent and the Assistant Golf Course Superintendents. This person aids in the direction and participation in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and irrigation system.

Essential Functions:
• Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees and fairways; schedules work and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment.
• Instructs equipment operations on the proper operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
• Supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment.
• Ensures cleanliness and workmanship of pesticide equipment, proper record keeping and training of Interns.
• Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
• Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety, personnel discipline and may also modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.
• Assists as project foreman.
• Development of staff for career advancement.
• Perform all other tasks and duties assigned by the supervisor.
• The AIT supervises greens keepers and greens department Interns.

Requirements:
Must have a two or four-year degree or certificate in Turfgrass management or a related field.
Golf course experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens; the seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; the planting, cultivating, pruning, hand watering and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; to prepare clear and concise reports; and to maintain effective employee and public relations.
Requires current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator (within 90 days of hire).
Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Compensation:
$19 – $20 per hour.
