Director of Golf
Golf Club in Summerfield, North Carolina is looking for a Director of Golf.

Position Overview:
The Director of Golf will be responsible for the total Golf Operations and Services Department offerings including golf rounds, coordination with an independent golf instruction firm, attracting, marketing and organizing tournaments, outings and events, golf practice areas, golf shop, golf cart operations, food and beverage and Swimming pool operations. In this position, the Director of Golf will hire, train, lead, monitor and coach the Golf Operations and Services team to promote and provide efficient operations and exceptional services and golf experiences for all members, guests and visitors. The Director of Golf will also prepare, recommend, oversee and monitor the annual budget, recommend, oversee and monitor capital improvements and be responsible for increasing revenues by marketing and promoting the club’s amenities and services creating interest, rounds of golf, all aspects of revenues and limited membership in the club. As such, the Director of Golf is tasked with daily operations and maximizing all revenue streams of the facility, with bonus potential tied to profitability. However, they are not expected to teach lessons or clinics.

Overall Departmental Responsibilities:
• Represent the Club and Golf Operations and Services Department interacting with members, guests and visitors, answering questions and promoting the Club’s amenities and services to increase revenues by generating interest, usage and memberships.
• Create an efficient, effective and service oriented team through proper leadership, management, oversight, training, and coaching who are committed to meeting exceptional standards and embrace the Club’s vision, mission and values.
• Prepare, recommending and overseeing the annual budget for the Golf Operations and Services Department.
• Assess departmental needs for capital improvement and recommending, overseeing and monitoring capital improvements and budgets for the Golf Operations and Services Department.
• Develop and implement strategies and programs to engage and retain members and attract new members or visitors to the Club by assessing golfer needs and desires and researching the industry and trends in the sport of golf.
• Create and promote a safe work environment by implementing safety procedures and practices, safety training and education and safety communication.

Golf Services Responsibilities:
• Recommend, implement, manage and administer the club’s tee time software to ensure fair and proper allocation of tee times and course usage is fully maximized.
• Attract, market, develop, implement, and monitor golf tournaments, outings, events and programs that promote the game and engage all segments of members, guests and visitors of the Club.
• Coordinate golf tournaments, outings and events with the Superintendent and Director of Food and Beverage to ensure the course and all food and beverage needs are being met.
• Monitor play on the golf course with special attention to the pace of play and implement immediate corrective action as needed to improve pace of play and address any other issues on the course.
• Act as Club’s rules official, advising members, guests and visitors and during tournaments, outings and events as necessary and providing rule train to the Golf Operations and Services team
• Develop, implement, and oversee the Club’s course rules and regulations and ensure rules are administered consistently and adhered to.

Golf Shop and Merchandise Responsibilities:
• Ensure a qualified team is available in the Golf Shop to assist with tee times, merchandise sales and to proactively engage with members, guests and visitors.
• Ensure the Club’s equipment offerings and merchandise represents the Club’s members, guests and visitors demographics and needs and the Club provides an efficient service for orders and shipping.
• Purchase, manage and oversee the inventory of equipment and merchandise through effective purchasing, invoicing and controls.
• Ensure the Club’s equipment offerings and merchandise promotes the Club and branding guidelines.
• Establish, with CFO and owners, margins, sales goals and forecasts for all equipment offerings and merchandise and monitor and analyze sales and inventory performance.
• Develop, implement, manage and oversee golf shop operations policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory and resources.
• Ensure that optimal customer service is provided to members, guests and visitors with all outside services including handling of bags, golf carts and practice areas.
• Research, recommend, implement and manage the golf cart purchasing/leasing program and ensure golf carts are properly maintained and clean and ready for use by the members, guests and visitors.
• Ensure practice areas and all outside operations areas are clean, organized and fully stocked throughout the day, balls are regularly cleared from the practice tees, range and chipping area and practice areas are neat and clear when closed.
• Ensure the Club’s cart barn, bag storage and outside service areas are clean, organized and well maintained throughout the day.

Requirements:
Must be a proven leader in creating a customer-focused work environment and an exceptional team through effective recruitment, leadership, training and coaching.
Must be an active PGA of America membership in good standing.
Have a comprehensive knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations, merchandise and tournament/outing operations
Ability to play golf at a credible level.
Have a fundamental understanding of golf instruction.
Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and be proficient in other applications, including email, internet, tee time, tournament and other related software programs.
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Working knowledge in creating, monitoring and analyzing budgets.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Golf Management or related discipline is desirable.
Knowledge and practice of health and safety programs and practices.

Compensation:
$70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year.
