Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Club in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota is looking for an Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
The selected individual will join our team and play a leading role in enhancing our property, our staff, and our reputation. The new superintendent will play a critical role in executing the strategic game plan across the golf course. We are looking for someone with experience and passion, working alongside the general manager and board, to make these investments successful.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• All phases of the golf and agronomic operations including budgeting/forecasting, scheduling, and designing turf/plant material maintenance programs.
• Develops an annual budget for all maintenance expenses including payroll planning, equipment, (purchase or leased) supplies and chemicals.
• Supervises, orders, controls, and maintains records of all maintenance expenses, and equipment inventory and chemical supplies related to the golf facility, including payroll, equipment, supplies and chemicals within the established budget.
• Frequently inspects the golf course and related areas to evaluate the maintenance standards and directs construction/rehabilitation required.
• Ensures that the golf course is providing healthy and high-quality playing conditions for its patrons.
• Performs routine inspection and upkeep of the irrigation system including changes and repairs, as necessary.
• Monitors soil moisture levels and manages daily irrigation practices and scheduling to ensure optimal levels of soil moisture for playability and turf health.
• Supervises the planting, care, and maintenance of all turf on the course, sod farm beds and practice areas.
• Supervises the operation, repair and upkeep of the maintenance shop, course maintenance equipment and golf car fleet owned or leased by the club.
• Maintains all physical buildings and clubhouse grounds on the club premises.
• Hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and develops the maintenance staff per the established budget. Works closely with the GM to operate the club in a fiscally responsible and professional manner.
• Attends all Green Committee meetings and other meetings as assigned.
• Attends Board of Directors meetings as requested.
• Other duties as assigned by the General Manager and the Board of Directors.

Requirements:
Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or Turf Management preferred.
Computer skills required for financial reporting and control of operations, including use of Microsoft Office Suite.
At least 3-5 years’ experience as a Golf Superintendent or 1st Assistant.
Valid driver’s license.
Pesticide Application License.
Prefer Certification by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
The candidate must possess extensive golf course management and leadership experience that will allow them to be successful on day one.
Additionally, they must be a positive, self-motivated, hard-working and team-oriented individual who possesses a desire for continued growth and improvement for themselves and the facilities.
Thorough knowledge of the construction and maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, roughs, and greens; of the planting and maintenance of plants, shrubs, and trees; of the characteristics and proper use of fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides, and pest control materials; of drainage control methods; and of watering and irrigation systems, to include wells, pumps, and automatic controls.
Bentgrass and Bluegrass management experience required.
Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff management.
Customer Service orientation and understanding of the process for providing quality customer service, meeting service stands and the evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations, such as, but not limited to, employee safety, environmental standards, and chemical application.
Interpersonal skills to resolve conflict and work with various stakeholders.
The Golf Course Superintendent must be willing to participate in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, trade shows, and correspondence courses.
