Head Golf Professional
Private golf course in Wayne, Pennsylvania is looking for a Head Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
As the leader of the Golf Department, the Head Golf Professional has the responsibility for the overall management of the golf operation while working cooperatively with other departments.

Golf Operations:
• Develop and manage an innovative tournament program that services all customer segments, maintaining the high level of interest and excitement surrounding the tournament program.
• Communicate regularly through multiple channels (including email, text, and social media) with all segments of the membership to ensure up to date information and promotion of golf events and offerings.
• Respond accurately and efficiently to member needs and requests, maintaining a consistently high level of member satisfaction.
• Understand the desires and expectations of the membership by keeping an accurate ‘pulse’ on the Club and evolve all programming and service levels as demand changes.
• Prioritize building relationships with members on an individual basis, therefore improving the ‘member experience’ and creating connection with the Club.
• Recruit, promote, and contract golf outings to meet budgeted expectations.
• Play golf with a variety of members on a regular basis both at the Club and in Pro-Am events.
• Develop and maintain a high-level of teaching and coaching skills to benefit all levels of players.
• Provide professional club fitting services using facility provided technology and fitting tools.
• Oversee the operations of a well-managed practice facility.
• Administer the Rules of Golf and educate staff.

Retail Management:
• Oversee retail merchandise concession in step with the mission of the golf operation and facility.
• Supervise Merchandiser and support their role as buyer and administrator.
• Maintain a profitable golf merchandising operation.
• Oversee development of buying plans and all golf related purchasing.
• Supervise physical inventories, present a diverse and desirable array of golf equipment, apparel, accessories.
• Assist in the development of necessary systems utilizing POS to safeguard inventories and cash.
• Establish accurate recordkeeping policies and procedures.
• Supervise and train all golf shop staff to maximize sales opportunities.
• Maintain an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop.
• Conduct accurate and timely inventory counts.

Player Development:
• Develop, provide, and oversee an enhanced golf instruction program offering individual and group clinics for all levels. Ensure that the services of a well-trained staff of professional instructors are available where required.
• Supervise Director of Instruction and provide support to maximize their services to the membership.
• Develop an innovative calendar of player development programs that reflects the desires of the membership and prioritizes their improvement and enjoyment of the game.
• Utilize the Operation 36 platform and any additional resources to promote a thriving junior golf program.
• Assist with the training of the staff in regard to player development and encourage their participation.
• Communicate regularly through all available channels to promote player development opportunities to the membership.

Administrative
• Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and supervise all golf department staff and maintain accurate payroll records.
• Act as a mentor and coach to Assistant Professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve both facility and individual goals.
• Ensure evaluations and annual reviews are completed and recorded for all applicable staff.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled by management and schedule staff meetings with golf operations personnel on a regular basis.
• Work closely with and provide guidance and consultation with the Golf Chair, Women’s Golf Chair, event chairpersons, and Golf Committee.
• Update and maintain golf shop policies and procedures and job descriptions and ensure they are adhered to.
• Ensure all applicable staff are trained and educated in club policies, golf rules and the calendar of events, able to answer questions in such areas in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Maintain safety standards that meet Club requirements, prioritizing the safety and health of all staff, members, and guests.
• Create and publish a weekly update of events and build attractive promotional materials that act to keep members informed.
• Oversee the administration of the golf handicap program.
• Attend applicable committee meetings and board, management, and staff meetings.
• Adhere to, enforce, and implement policies and procedures of the facility.

Financial:
• Responsible for the financial and operational performance of the golf shop operations and golf services.
• Ensure all financial goals and objectives are being achieved.
• Responsible for preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of all golf operations revenues and expenses on a monthly and annual basis.
• Ensure systems controls are in place to safeguard assets, revenues, and resources.
• In keeping with facility goals, utilize yield management techniques to maximize course usage.

Other Facility & Departmental Responsibilities:
• Work closely with all department heads to achieve the goals and objectives of the facility.
• Maintain a close working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent and provide advice on course playability and tournament set up.
• Assist in the promotion of new member leads and provide a supporting role in assisting with prospective members and orientation of new members.
• Coordinate plans with the Food and Beverage Manager for food and beverage needs for all golf functions.

Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
Strong organizational, time management, planning, and prioritization skills.
Self-motivated by a desire to see the facility and all club personnel succeed.
Service and customer focused attitude.
Experienced in written and oral business communications.
Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies .
Experienced computer user familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel and proficient in other applications, i.e. email, text message, tournament and database software.
Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.
Seen as a leader within the local PGA Section.
Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends.
Maintain a credible golf game and represent the Club in professional events.
