Director of Golf
Country club in Camarillo, California is looking for a Director of Golf.

Position Overview:
The Director of Golf role demands a dynamic, polished leader that fosters relationships, interacts at the highest levels within the community, and represents with the utmost standards of service, integrity, and professionalism.

• Plan, promote and direct all golf activities including daily management responsibilities.
• Order merchandise for golf shop and provides the best selection possible within the constraints of inventory and quality limits set by management.
• Order supplies associated with golf activities.
• Maintain attractive, orderly appearance in pro shop.
• Select, supervise, train and evaluate golf cart maintenance personnel and pro shop, golf range, golf bag and club storage employees and on-course personnel.
• Provide golf lessons to members and guests.
• Design and conduct golf clinics, junior golf clinics and training programs.
• Collect charges and fees for all golf-related activities.
• Organize and conduct club tournaments and related events.
• Interpret and enforce golf rules and regulations.
• Interpret and enforce club policies, rules and regulations.
• Under the direction of the General Manager, implement and administer a system governing the start of play and the handicap system.
• Maintain records relating to player and guest rounds and other statistics.
• Provide marshals for tournaments and at other times as determined by management; supervise marshals to help ensure that expected performance is delivered.
• Adhere to all federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety and employment.
• Schedule staff hours to assure that members are fully served and that labor costs are maintained; periodically check timecards for adherence to posted schedules.
• Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Director about food and beverage needs for events.
• Maintain visible presence on the course during peak times of play.
• Supervise the work of the assistant golf professionals.
• Supervise golf play of members and guests from the first tee and maintains starting times according to the club’s rules and regulations.
• Provide for the collection and issuance of all prizes associated with all competitions.
• Implement an overall safety program that conforms to OSHA standards for the golf department.

Execution-Relations & Retention
• Play golf with members of all skill-levels to generate enthusiasm.
• Conduct new golf member orientation program.
• Plan social evenings and events to promote golf and fellowship among members and guests.
• Is present during club operating hours and events to assist in meeting and greeting members and guests.
• Effectively respond to member relations comments & questions in accordance with club standards, policies and rules and in a friendly manner; uses ideas, feedback and suggestions to continuously improve the services provided to members.
• Consistently exceed member needs, following up and resolving issues in a timely manner.

Marketing/Business Planning
• Consult with the General Manager about golf course and practice range operations, maintenance and rules.
• Cooperate with the grounds superintendent about maintenance issues that affect the playability of the golf course.
• Assist in the development of short- and long-range plans for improvements to the club facilities and courses.
• Assist in supervising and inspecting design improvements and capital outlays to golf courses and golf facilities.
• Plan and develop training programs and professional development opportunities for himself or herself and all other subordinates.
• Develop and adhere to a departmental budget; after approval, monitors and takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained
• Serve as manager on duty as scheduled.

Community Relations
• Attend national and sectional conferences and meetings, merchandise shows, educational and professional shows to encourage development and to enhance quality and image of the club.
• Represent the club in area professional events including local, state or national events with the approval of the golf committee.
• Maintain active involvement in community and industry organizations; regularly attend and actively participate in meaningful networking events.
• Establish communication with competitive set and establish relationships and partnerships within the community.
• Participate in industry activities, community activities, employee activities and customer events as deemed necessary and appropriate by Management.

Minimum five (5) years of related experience within the golf industry or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to effectively communicate with guests and employees in a friendly and positive manner
Consistently exceeds client needs
Strong follow-up and resolves issues in a timely manner
Excellent communication, customer service and leadership skills
Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Knowledge of golf required.
Four-year college degree preferred.
Class “A” PGA Professional in good standing.
