Head Golf Professional
Golf Course in San Martin, California is looking for a Head Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
Works closely with the Director of Golf to oversee all facets of the golf operation, especially the day to day responsibilities and procedures established to ensure efficiency and meeting service objectives. Provides professional support, direction, management, training, and leadership to golf staff associates. Promotes and nurtures customer relations to enhance the quality of the golf experience. Assist merchandise buyer with purchasing and inventory. Embrace and model the Mission, Vision, and Core Values to enhance and provide maximum enjoyment for all internal and external guests.

Duties:
• Create a strong membership culture which encourages the internal guests to care for the needs of our members and guests as well as the resort players.
• Complete oversight on hard goods including pricing, buying guide, inventory control.
• Stay current with marketing objectives & initiatives and take an active role in making best impressions on sales prospects as well as all members and their guests. Continually strive to market and embody the brand and instill this culture in the members and the staff.
• Responsible for hiring, managing, and training of 30 plus internal guests including Golf Professionals, Golf Shop Assistants, Outside Services, and Men’s Locker Room Services to achieve the highest level of customer service.
• Responsible for Member Majors including Club Championship, Match Play Championship & Harvest Cup.
• Responsible for internal & external communication regarding newsletter, member communication, website updates, email blasts, and other mailings.
• Maintain the performance reviews on a timely basis for GSA, GSSA, and MLRA.
• Assist Caddie Manager to ensure the highest quality service levels of the Caddie Program. Assist by approving caddie program weekly invoices.
• Assist payroll with accurate time report edits to ensure that associates are paid correctly. Ensue all wage and hour laws are followed.
• Coordinate staff benefits with Human Resources and ensure all Company handbook polices are followed.
• Responsible for staff discipline including oral warning, written warnings, suspension, and termination.
• Prepare all Payroll Action forms (PAF) for any personnel changes and submit to HR.
• Responsible for Training of the GSA , GSSA, and MLRA staff.
• Prepare or approve the weekly work schedules for all Direct Reports.
• Maintain the inventory and negotiation of pricing for operating supplies, guest supplies, and locker room supplies.
• Assist with starting groups on the first tee to introduce the golf course and to ensure proper policies and procedures are carried out with caddies and billing for daily play.
• Maintain the golf car fleet to ensure the cleanliness and the maintenance programs are implemented.
• Assist in the merchandising program.
• Implement tournaments and events including weekly game.
• Tournament preparation.
• Tournament billing.
• Scoreboard preparation.
• Coordinate with photographer for golf tournaments.
• Responsible for golf handicap maintenance.
• Responsible for coordinating club repair “in house” as well as setting up club repair return authorizations with vendors and maintaining Return Authorization Log.
• Responsible for bag room billing and maintenance.
• Responsible for rental set inventory and control.
• Responsible for the rental shoe inventory.
• Beat the budgeted expenses (supplies, payroll) while not compromising the service and experience.
• Approve and code invoices.
• Support annual hard Goods retail buying plan.
• Play golf with members such as in the Game, Members trips,
o Pro-Am Tournaments, and Home and Home matches.
• Communicate uniform needs to Director of Retail.
• Coordinate radio policies and procedures.
• Increase team building by planning and coordinating staff outings and events.
• Assist GSA’s, GSSA’s and LKRM positions when needed.
• Assist with ordering trophies, prizes, etc… for tournaments.
• Oversee the car detailing operation, and confirm the billing is being done correct in the golf shop.
• Support Golf shop counter operations such as answer phone, tee time reservations, and golf shop sales and customer service.
• Assist with non-golf event set-up and operations.
• Cover lunch breaks for GSA’s, GSSA’s and MLRA’s.
• Maintain a high level of golfing skills and ability.
• Participate in and attend company and employee events and parties.
• Attend continuing education programs offered by the PGA.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Golf.

Requirements:
Class “A” PGA member in good standing.
Prior Golf Professional work experience at resort and private golf facilities
High school graduate, college degree preferred.
Must have the ability to provide the highest level of customer service in the industry. Strong interpersonal skills.
Must be detail oriented and organized with ability to multi-task.
Flexibility of hours and willingness to work more than 40 hours per week including holidays and weekends on a regular basis.
Must have ability to manage and motivate employees.
Strong understanding of high-end private club operations.
Ability to be understanding to staff and empower staff.
Energetic people skills.
Ability to maintain proper budgeted levels of supplies and staff.
Ability to manage and implement any type of golf tournament format for golf outings. Ability to maintain handicap program.
Ability to coordinate and adjust staff scheduling based on labor budget and employees’ requests.
Ability to teach and understand PGA recommended methods of golf.
Ability to work with and coordinate with other departments daily to achieve company success.
Ability to negotiate with various vendors to obtain the highest quality of guest and operating supplies at the best price.
Computer literate including fully capable of using Microsoft Office.
Ability to fit golf clubs.
Ability to adjust swing weights on golf clubs.
Public speaking skills.
Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Required to speak, read, and write English, with fluency in other languages a plus.
Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting up to 50 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to operate and drive golf carts safely.
Ability to play 18 holes of golf.
CPR and basic First Aid certified.
