Golf Course Manager
Golf course in Mitchellville, Maryland is looking for a Golf Course Manager.

Position Overview:
Under general direction, manages the day to day programs and operations of a multifunctional recreational facility (18 hole golf course, driving range, practice area, snack bar, and pro shop). Work at this level typically involves the designing, implementation, and management of a wide variety of recreational, sporting, cultural, and revenue-generating programs geared to the needs of a diversified community. Assignments include full responsibility for the operation of a facility including building maintenance, program administration, budget management, and staff supervision. Job assignments require the regular exercise of independent judgment and performance of duties within very general policy guidelines. Managers at this level are required to develop successful business strategies and methodologies to achieve optimum facility operations. Work assignments include troubleshooting and determine the best solutions to complex operational problems. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Manages a multi-functional recreational facility.
• Ensures the safety and security of buildings, employees, and patrons.
• Reports and assists in the investigation of accidents, fires, and crimes.
• Monitors building utilities to ensure proper operations.
• Supervise, hire, train, counsel, and evaluate a diverse set of employees.
• Establish, monitor, and implement effective work schedules within your scope of work.
• Effectively interpret and communicate Commission policy and procedures to employees.
• Provide a team management environment by organizing weekly, monthly, and quarterly staff and safety meetings.
• Emphasize the importance of customer service with staff members to ensure patrons are greeted and treated in a pleasant and professional manner.
• Conduct facility audits regularly / daily concentrating on cleanliness and organization.
• Ensure all print and electronic media like brochures, flyer, ads, and electronic posts are accurate, current, and posted.
• Ensure safe environments for patrons and staff.
• Ensure facilities are opened and closed properly.
• Administer, and oversee an effective tee time and point of sale (POS) system.
• Maintain an accurate club calendar that reflects all contracted events, Jr. Golf programs, agronomy practices, holiday’s and in-house events.
• Prepare, and send effective correspondence as required on time to employees and the community.
• Supervise the work area/facility with a conscientious effort to promote the efficient use of electric power, fuel, telecom, and water recourses.
• Properly and effectively recycle Commission waste, including paper goods, plastics, glass, batteries, and other recyclable products.
• Monitor expenses and revenues with special focus and emphasis on driving revenue and controlling bottom-line expenditures.
• Provide accurate annual and monthly budget submissions as required and requested 2/2.
• Provide accurate inventories for food, beverages, golf shop merchandise, club assets, and divisional assets.
• Maintain and store accurate financial records to assure compliance with audit and divisional needs.
• Have the ability to explain budget to actual variances and offer accurate reasoning’s and processes to improve.
• Monitor the completion and timely submission of time cards, petty cash, purchase orders and check request to ensure compliance.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty; and
Three years of progressive professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or area of required specialty, including one year as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience; and,
A valid operating license (i.e. county pool operator’s license, child care license, etc.) where appropriate.
A valid driver’s license may be required.

Compensation:
$54,066.00 – $92,517.00 per year.
