Full-time Assistant Golf Professional
Country club in Thomasville, North Carolina is looking for an Full-time Assistant Golf Professional.

Manage all aspects of the club’s golf operation. This includes the pro shop, outside services, and merchandising. This position reports to the club’s Head Golf Professional.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Golf Professional’s overarching responsibility is to help maximize the club’s financial performance and provide exemplary customer service. This is the top priority over all others.

Financial and Reporting
• Assists in the preparation of the club’s annual golf budget and financial goals and then religiously monitors and manages this department in the achievement of these goals.
• Assists with the ProfitMaker labor scheduler and records all expenses on the ProfitMaker expense tracker.
• Builds a team of golf associates that are fully trained for their jobs, understand the clubs goals and are held fully accountable for their results.
• Holds all golf department associates accountable for reaching their monthly and annual financial goals.
• Has the ability to complete an accurate inventory count each month and has a firm understanding of cost of goods sold.
• Operates the golf department within the budgeted payroll and makes adjustments to it as sales increase or decrease.

Operations
• Learns thoroughly the policies and procedures in Carpe Diem and manages the golf department according to these important Bobby Jones Links guidelines.
• Ensures the pro shop, cart staging area, driving range, and cart storage area presentation and appearance is always clean, pleasing to the eye, and impeccable in its presentation, following the guidelines as set forth and measured in the Bobby Jones Links Operational Audit.
• Assists with a monthly golf staff meeting that covers training, customer service, progress since the prior month, and basic financials that pertains to the entire golf department.
• Assists the Head Golf Professional in planning, promoting, and directing all golf activities.
• Ensures all members and guests receive the highest level of service.
• Follows and implements the management directives, programs, and policies sent to the club by Bobby Jones Links.
• Practices management by walking around – touring the property daily to ensure it is operating according to Bobby Jones Links standards.
• Develops merchandise sales and promotions during holidays, specials events, and times when sales are slow.
• Provides golf lessons to all members and guests, overseeing the instruction program at the club.
• Develops and conducts junior golf clinics.
• Orders supplies for the golf shop as director by the Head Golf Professional.
• Plays golf with members to ensure enthusiasm for the game.
• Has a good handle of the point of sales system.
• Assists the Head Golf Professional with all tournament operations.
• Maintains all logs (comp, rain check, monthly range, etc).

Human Resources
• Assists in the hiring and training all golf personnel.
• Makes certain every new golf employee reads the Bobby Jones Associate Handbook and signs an acknowledgement that they did.
• Makes certain every new golf employee views Bobby Jones Links’ orientation and customer service video and takes the corresponding tests within 14 days of hiring.
• Ensures every new golf associate receives a written job description and a copy of the Bobby Jones Links Associate Card.
• Regularly recognizes exemplary associate accomplishment through the rewarding of Grand Slam awards.
• Follows all State, Federal, and Bobby Jones Links rules in regard to human resources including such key policies as hiring and firing, discrimination, and harassment.
• Works directly with the club’s golf committee to maximize communication and execution of their priorities.

Requirements:
The ability to lead people and build cohesive teams working toward a common goal.
The ability to provide exemplary member and customer service.
The ability to get along with people.
The ability to proficiently use Excel, Word, and club point of sales systems.
The ability to develop and manage budgets and other financial worksheets.
The ability to read and understand financial statements including balance sheets and income statements.
Must have a thorough working knowledge of the club’s golf operation.
The endurance and commitment to work the long hours (minimum 50 hours per week) and weekend work that the club business requires.
Must have significant experience in the club business.
