Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Club in Edwards, Colorado is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
Oversees the maintenance of one or more of the golf courses and ensures that turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards.

Essential Duties:
• Aids the Director of Agronomy with preparing and maintaining the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.
• Effectively plans, organizes, directs, and performs tasks related to the proactive minimization and mitigation of turf damage including but not limited to:
• Elk Damage.
• Mechanical/machine damage.
• Vole damage.
• Desiccation (turf loss from drying out).
• Ice damage.
• Snow Mold.
• Safely operates and coordinates the use of dump trucks, snow removal. equipment, snowcat, and snowmobiles to remove, monitor, maintain, groom, and pack the facility during winter operations.
• Successfully plans and directs proper winterization of the golf course including fencing, tarping, end-of-season agronomy practices, irrigation winterization, and chemical applications.
• Maintains a working knowledge of and provides recommendations on the agronomy programs associated with the management of the specific water, soil, and turf types of the course.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots components such as pressure relief and reduction valves, pumps, filtration equipment, pump motors/drives, and communication systems associated with the water delivery for the property.
• Measures, estimates, calculates, and records diversions of water from ditches and other delivery systems for use in computing reports as required by law.
• Develops and preserves property water rights.
• Patrols irrigation ditches by foot, motor vehicle, and ATV to detect leaks and weak areas, removes debris and makes repairs to ditch banks, structures, gates, ditch access roads, and paths.
• Prepares reports on condition and repairs needed on ditches, irrigation systems and related equipment.
• Ensures ditches and associated diversion and delivery structures are maintained and repaired in a proactive manner.
• Oversees timely repairs to broken water lines, heads, and valves and performs repairs as needed.
• Ensures proper finish of sodding, drainage work, and various projects associated with course maintenance.
• Communicates with Director of Agronomy, other key agronomy staff, and golf staff to discuss conditions of golf courses, maintenance plans and scheduled events.
• Plans, organizes and directs the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
• Supervises the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants.
• Ensures that maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
• Procures supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.
• Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs. Prepares reports.
• Implements sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
• Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll and other required documents.
• Coordinates and operates machinery associated with property snow removal program.
• Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
• Ensures that they and all associates obtain proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns.
• Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemical/fertilizers used on the course.
• Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Assistant Superintendent, 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Head Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
• Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Requirements:
Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science).
Valid driver’s license, Pesticide Application License.
