Director of Golf
Country club in Stonington, Connecticut is looking for a Director of Golf.

Position Overview:
The Club’s General Manager & Director of Golf role is to assure Club growth and sustainability, member satisfaction with golf experience and hospitality and staff’s high levels of service levels and efficacy. The General Manager’s effectiveness will enable smooth operations, effective regulatory compliance and risk management, implementation of strategic and long-term plans as well as professional and gracious interface with Club members, Board of Directors, staff, contractors and vendors.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Board Relations: Oversees, assesses and reports statistical data reporting on key Club metrics, financial forecasting and operational goals to effect strategic decision-making by Executive Committee and Board. Provides Board with input on long-term planning, strategic planning and comprehensive budgeting. Meets regularly with Executive Committee and Board of Governors to present operational updates and financial forecasts. Provides effective guidance and support to all Board Committee Chairs.
• Membership Growth and Services: Continually builds, assesses and reports member satisfaction. Regularly develops, implements and measures efficacy of membership recruitment as well as membership and facilities’ marketing strategies and programs. Assures effective planning and implementation of all golf activities, hospitality, food, beverage, social events, facilities, golf tournaments and fund-raising events.
• Golf & Operations Management/Leadership: Assures timely and effective communication, services and working relationships with direct reports, their staff, contractors and vendors.
o Assures effectiveness of all golf operations including instruction, Golf Shop and course maintenance;
o Oversees, evaluates and supports: Club financials (A/R, A/P, payroll, budgeting, forecasting); HR strategies, policies, staffing, management and development; technology, safety & risk management, all relevant regulatory compliance, facilities’ development and maintenance.
o Acts as State of CT Alcohol Permittee.

Knowledge of practical and best practices of private club leadership to drive high member retention, recruitment and engagement and service levels in balance with responsible fiscal management for long-term sustainability.
Exceptional integrity, discretion, poise and emotional intelligence.
Bias for action, collaboration, and communications with others
High degree of resilience, decisiveness within an environment of ambiguity, and influence of diverse stakeholders without authority.
Adept listening, inclusion, engagement, hospitality, internal and external communications, and collaboration skills.
Proven expertise in internal and external communications, marketing, staff management and development, financial analysis and management including zero-based budgeting and monthly reporting, vendor negotiations and management and regulatory compliance.
Honed expertise in developing market competitive marketing, staffing and service strategies/innovations.
Excellent organizational, prioritization, project management skill.
Bachelor’s Degree in golf, business or hospitality management.
Proven, increasing general management experience for private or resort Club with responsibility for more than 20 staff, $1M revenue, $1M operational budget and $3000 sign-off authority.
Continual track record of growth and success as well as employer commitment.
High impact Golf professional experience with current or eligibility for PGA certification/recertification.
Solid MS Office Suite, accounting, POS and website software competence, including Jonas.

Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or other related curricula.
Significant, proven and multi-year tenure in general management/leadership role(s) of private Golf or Golf-focused Country Club/Resort.
Current PGA Certification.
Current CCM (Certified Club Manager).
Strong Jonas accounting, POS and tee time management software expertise.
