Full-time Golf Course Superintendent
Golf course in Casper, Wyoming is looking for a Full-time Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
Incumbents are responsible for oversight of the staffing and operational activities for the Municipal Golf Course. Responsibilities may include supervising golf course operations; recruiting, training and developing staff; preparing and monitoring a budget; preparing and reviewing operational and financial reports; and developing and implementing departmental goals, policies and procedures. Receives general guidance from the Parks Manager and higher level supervisory staff.

Typical Class Essential Duties:
1. Supervises assigned staff to include: authorizing time off, approving payroll and hiring; prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
2. Coordinates, prioritizes, and assigns operational activities for golf course maintenance including services with other departments, and outside agencies; provides staff assistance to the Special Facilities Manager, prepares and presents operational plans and other necessary correspondence.
3. Manages the activities of the golf course which includes developing and implementing departmental goals, policies, and procedures; identifies and implements opportunities to improve services.
4. Assists with budget preparation and administration; prepares costs estimates and justifications for budget items; submits and approves invoices for payment and monitors expenses to align with budget allocated utilizing the City’s central financial software system.
5. Responds to and resolves citizen concerns and/or complaints.
6. Prepares operational and statistical reports.
7. Keeps current on new trends and innovations in golf course operations.
8. Maintains records on preventative maintenance and other repair work on equipment.
9. Provides general customer service and communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules and general information about the facility or event.
10. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor. 11. Follows all City safety procedures. Reports all accidents/incidents immediately to supervisor.
12. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience in golf course maintenance and construction and golf course administration.
Minimum of two years of experience working as a supervisor.
Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, turf management, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Wyoming Driver’s License.

Knowledge of:
Current trends and innovations in golf course operations.
Applicable Federal, State, Local and City government codes, rules and regulations relating to the various aspects of golf course management.
Tools and equipment used in golf course maintenance.
Administrative principles and practices, including goal and objective development, work planning and employee supervision.
Basic principles of municipal budget preparation and control.
Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluations.
Operational characteristics, services and activities of a golf course.

Ability to:
Work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays.
Plan and manage compliance with reports, analysis and regulations relating to a golf course.
Interpret and explain City policies and procedures.
Provide leadership and direction.
Handle large volumes of cash ensuring procedures are followed for accurate accountability.
Stay current with new products and service deliveries.
Coordinate the work of personnel.
Work with facility supervisors and customers to assure positive outcomes.
Create and review reports; perform analysis.
Apply technical expertise.
Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
Communicate with staff and customers to improve customer experiences.
Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Follow written and verbal instructions and direction.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Driving Requirements:
A driving record that reflects any of the following criteria is considered unsatisfactory:

1) Convicted of three (3) or more moving violations within the previous 36 months (three separate, individual incidents);

2) A conviction within the previous 36 months of any of the following:
Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol;
Leaving the scene of an accident;
Fleeing to avoid arrest;
Reckless Driving;
Homicide or assault by motor vehicle;
Driving without auto insurance;
Driving on a suspended license;
Refusal to take blood/breathalyzer test for suspected DUI or impaired driving.

$68,541.46 – $83,295.94 per year.
