2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Country Club in Menlo Park, California is looking for a 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
Maintain golf course and help Superintendent (Josh Lewis) to execute long-term plan for the golf course and department.

Job Summary (Essential Functions):
• Responsible for management and maintenance of the irrigation system; including repairs and scheduling.
• Utilization of soil moisture meters and associated hand watering during daily greens inspection.
• Supervision of the irrigation technician and the summer hose watering team which typically consists of three staff members.
• Will assist in overseeing all quality control aspects of daily operation along with performing daily maintenance tasks as needed.
• Oversee and assist in pesticide and fertilizer applications.

Requirements:
Applicants should be enrolled in or recently completed a 2 or 4 year degree in turf management or related field.
Licensed California pesticide applicator or ability to acquire within 6 months.
Candidate must have track record of leading by example, demonstrates initiative and ability to perform all duties with little or no supervision.
Successful candidate will be someone looking for their first Assistant Superintendent position and hoping to advance in the industry in 2 to 4 years.
Must be detail oriented with high expectations in all aspects of maintenance along with a strong work ethic.
Toro Lynx experience a plus but training from Toro will be provided.
Ability to bring ideas and past experiences to contribute to the team.
Candidate must be organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks, being able to see areas in need of attention and have the initiative to accomplish these tasks and or communicate observations with the Superintendent.
Strong attention to detail, passion for excellence and a great attitude.

Compensation:
$60,000.00 per year.

Position Overview:

Primary duties:
1. Meets and provides leadership to assigned groups in the locations and at the times designated.

7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
8. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
9. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
10. Diagnoses developmental barriers students face on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district Athletic Directors as required.
11. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
12. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
13. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and during interactions, develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
14. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day as required/requested to do so under reasonable terms.
15. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for assistants and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, reflects on performance.
16. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
17. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Requirements:
Appropriate State of Florida professional certification as required and applicable in the form of a 3 or 5 year Certificate in Athletic Coaching (K-12) or a Temporary or Professional Educator’s Certificate.
Appropriate State of Florida professional certification as required and applicable.
CPR/First Aide Certification preferred.
Experience and/or Professional engagement in the target sport is preferred.
