Full-time Golf Course Operations Manager
City government office in Greenwich, Connecticut is looking for a Full-time Golf Course Operations Manager.

Position Overview:
Manages and oversees all aspects of both the operation of a heavily utilized, highly rated 18-hole municipal golf course, and the maintenance and repair of its properties and facilities. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of all employees engaged in the administration, operation and care surrounding the course; turf maintenance, planning, budgeting and purchasing of golf course equipment, supplies, and oversight of grounds operations. Reports to the Director of Parks and Recreation as part of the Department of Parks and Recreation senior management team.

Duties:
• Supervises all of the employees of the golf course, including front end and back end operations; oversees and coordinates such tasks as collecting fees, starting players, keeping records, enforcing rules, rangering, greenskeeping, groundskeeping and facility maintenance operations.
• Monitors and directs staff regarding golf course operations and procedures. Responsible for policy and procedure implementation as it relates to daily operations, staff and general public.
• Develops, presents, defends and administers the golf course annual budget. Manages on a day-to-day basis the budget and finances of the Golf Course, including the Revolving Fund.
• Oversees account records and reports.
• Continually monitors and analyzes quantity and quality of work, development of revenue, capital expenses, staffing and operational budget. Formulates, reviews and implements strategies, policies, and objectives to maximize revenue and oversee revolving account.
• Oversees the operations of the golf professional, and coordinates on course activities as necessary.
• Oversees restaurant operations including contract compliance, staffing and management.
• Manages employees including training, motivating, reviewing, directing, developing and retaining in order to maintain a high performance management, operations, service, and support team.
• Plans and oversees proper grounds maintenance program with the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor; oversees golf course buildings and facilities maintenance. Responsible for long term planning and budgeting for facilities and ground operations, including five to ten-year capital project plans.
• Ensures compliance with Town of Greenwich and Department of Parks and Recreation policies, regulations, and procedures;
• Ensures safe work practices, procedures and the use of protective equipment.
• Works cooperatively and effectively with the Board of Parks and Recreation, the Golf Course Greens Committee, and user groups.
• Maintains good public relations with general public, acts as on site manager for golf operations, oversees tenants, vendors, and golf course staff.
• Performs related work as assigned, and supports Town of Greenwich policies and philosophies.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration or Parks and Recreation Administration.
Must also possess 6 years of related professional experience in responsible recreational/golf facility management with 4 years of supervisory experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of golf course administration as it applies to a large, heavily utilized municipal course.
Thorough knowledge of the game of golf.
Proven ability to interact with the general public, golf professionals, golf groups, the media, other Town departments, supervisors and employees.
Demonstrated experience in dealing with the occupational hazards of operation, care and maintenance of a municipal golf course, and the safety precautions necessary to protect employees and the public.
Overall knowledge of collection and deposit of daily receipts; revolving funds; and of the production of financial reports.
Demonstrated knowledge of turf maintenance including tools, materials, methods, and practices in the care and maintenance of a municipal golf course, and all buildings and properties.
Knowledge of municipal requirements for purchasing supplies, material, and capital expenditures.
Knowledge of Golf Trac software system for payments, recording memberships, and producing reports.
Conversant in social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and Constant Contact.
Proven experience in supervision including training, scheduling and payroll.
Ability to plan and direct the activities involved in the administration and operation of a municipal golf course.
Proven experience in planning and developing capital improvements goals and objectives, budgeting, accounting and purchasing.
Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication, including public speaking.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to operate golf course trucks/golf carts.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Connecticut.
