Temporary Assistant Golf Coach
Private university in Portland, Oregon is looking for a Temporary Assistant Golf Coach.

Position Overview:
Teach proper skills and skill development to members of the university Men’s and Women’s Golf team, providing instruction on team concepts, physical fitness and proper execution of maneuvers related to basketball. Additional responsibilities include promoting a culture of institutional compliance and academic integrity, assisting in the recruitment of student-athletes and completing administrative and compliance related work. Supports the daily operations of the assigned athletic team. Requires sport-specific expertise, skills and knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist the Head Coach in the development and execution of daily practice plans, involving instruction for individual team members and specific team needs. Solicit scouting reports, review film, and analyze and identify strategies to defeat upcoming opponents.
• Be present at and assist Head Coach in conducting team practices.
• Instruct team members on sport specific-skill development, individually and in groups.
• Instruct team members on sport-specific physical conditioning and strength training, injury prevention and injury rehabilitation.
• Travel, be present and assist the Head Coach during home and away competitive events. Duties include but are not limited to:
o Game and locker room set-up and clean-up.
o Strategy development.
o Roster management.
o Coordinate officials and medical support.
o Conduct pre-game and post-game team meetings.
o Conduct walk-throughs.
o Equipment management.
o Visiting team coordination.
o Post-game follow-up with officials and athletic trainers.
o Provide sports information interviews.
• Assist in the identification of future team needs and the recruitment of prospective student-athletes.Communicate with prospective student-athletics via verbal and written correspondence, telephone communication and off-campus evaluations. Coordinate scholarship negotiations and details with related University departments. Sign potential student athletes in accordance with all NCAA rules.
• Comply with all National Collegiate Athletic Association and Great Northwest Athletic Conference regulations and CU Athletic Department policies and guidelines, including timely documentation of telephone, recruiting, contact, playing and practice logs. Attend compliance education sessions as requested.
• Maintain knowledge of all relevant NCAA DII and GNAC rules. Violation of NCAA DII and/or GNAC regulations, may result in disciplinary or corrective action as required by those organizations, in addition to any sanctions imposed by the University, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations.
• Assist in all-around student-athlete development and mentorship through individual meetings with players including topics covering sport, competition, leadership, integrity, spirituality and personal issues.
• Assist with and carry out administrative duties, including but not limited to coordinating travel and transportation logistics, equipment management, budget and financial reporting, and completion of NCAA compliance logs.
• Contribute to and create content for social media posts.

Able to safely participate in sport-specific drills and frequently demonstrate sport-related skills.
Able to drive during varying weather and light conditions.
Able to bend, reach, twist and stoop on an occasional basis.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
Competitive playing experience at the high school and/or collegiate level.
Previous coaching experience preferred.
Sports specific knowledge of required skills, rules, statistics, and strategies.
Excellent organization and attention to detail. Willing to and able to maintain accurate and timely logs and documentation.
Able to understand and follow rules, regulations and guidelines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Able to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential information with good judgment, discretion and tact.
Familiarity with and ability to use Microsoft office software products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
Publicly support the mission of the university.
Communicate effectively with warmth, sensitivity, and understanding as s/he deals with administrative colleagues, teachers, students, parents, faculty, college personnel and program associates.
Work as a team member in a professional environment.
Possess a “service attitude” (willingness to be flexible to meet the needs of the department).
Have a professional physical appearance (appropriate clothing, personal hygiene, etc.).
