Full-time Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Resort in Gleneden Beach, Oregon is looking for a Full-time Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
This individual will be responsible for assisting with the managing of the department and will be responsible for the cleanliness and presentation of the grounds around the resort. This position will also assist as needed, with the daily golf course and grounds maintenance practices.

Duties:
• Assist Superintendent and other key staff position’s in making the golf course and grounds presentable on a daily basis for golf play, will also help and direct when needed with the lodge grounds and work schedule.
• Assign daily job activities for the golf and grounds maintenance staffs.
• Training and orientation of staff for the job duties as needed on a daily basis.
• Complete the weekly labor schedule with the Superintendent.
• Order supplies for the golf course and also the grounds as needed, following the procedures that are in place.
• Communicate with the Mechanic on any equipment problems that might affect the work schedule.
• Visually inspect the golf course for disease pressure and report and act on findings with the Superintendent.
• Perform all of the golf course maintenance items needed, cutting cups, all of the mowing tasks, project items, and other routine activities as directed by the Superintendent.
• Will assist in supervision and training of staff in all landscape tasks.
• Assist with the operation of the irrigation system and direct the irrigation staff member when needed.
• Assist with the repair of any irrigation breaks, leaks, valve problems, or irrigation head situations; pump station repairs and service, and operation of the central system.
• Apply chemicals and pesticides as needed to the golf course and the lodge grounds.
• Assist Superintendent with recommendations on personnel matters with reviews, terminations, and disciplinary actions for the staff.
• Monitors all daily work activities and schedules.
• Assists with the vacation and time off scheduling.
• Assists with the budgeting and forecasting for the golf/grounds maintenance department.
• Determines the mowing schedule depending on the season and golf play.
• Records all work activities in the daily log and also records any applications.
• Coordinate and schedule staff meetings on a monthly basis as well as morning staff meetings as needed.
• Assign uniforms with the staff and monitor proper use and care.
• Monitor equipment and tools that were assigned and reports all deficiencies to the Superintendent and the Head Mechanic.
• Train and fill out proper training sheets with employees.
• Perform and schedule landscaping tasks around the resort as directed.
• Maintenance and preparation of flower beds and bark beds.
• Trimming, pruning and plant installation.
• Monitor equipment and tools that were assigned and reports all deficiencies to the Superintendent and the Head Mechanic.
• Train and fill out proper training sheets with employees.
• Operate any equipment needed to perform drainage projects (ditch witch).
• Chainsaws and edger’s.
• Capable of operating all spray equipment.
• Laws and Safety.
• T&O Herbicide.
• T&O Fungicides and Insecticides.
• Aerifiying and grooming practices on greens, tees, and fairways.
• Divot filling and mixing of materials.
• Sod cutter and laying sod.
• Utility vehicle operations.
• Blower operations.
• Hand raking and sand pro operation.
• Perform and train staff on proper bunker maintenance procedures and standards.
• Maintains a clear and accurate log of daily assignments.
• Participate in the game of golf and maintain an open line of communication with supervisors for the benefit of the golf course and the department.
• Help with the watering of the golf course as needed.
• Assist with any chemical and fertilizer applications as needed.
• Assist with training of fulltime and seasonal staff.
• Help with the operation of the irrigation system as needed.
• Keep records of any chemical or fertilizer applications.
• Will assist in personnel decisions.
• Assist with any chemical or fertilizer applications as directed.
• Will assist in managing staff, to accomplish all golf maintenance practices to the standards of the department.
• Will attend seminars, educational classes in order to keep current with golf course industry standards.
• Will attend any seminars or classes that the company requires.

Requirements:
Previous experience on a golf course, with landscaping experience preferred.
Ability to work cohesively with coworkers as part of a team.
Ability to focus attention on details.
Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
Valid Oregon Driver’s license or obtain within 60 days of hire.
Proficient at running all tractor related attachments: Articulating mowing, aerifying, loader, track hoe, side blower, plus all other tractor usage.
Proficient at operating any piece of equipment that performs mowing functions (walking or riding mowers).
