Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Course in Bellevue, Washington is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
The Superintendent will manage the golf courses ensuring successful and profitable operations including oversight of all maintenance activities, and oversight and management of the private vendor contract for the pro shop, driving range and clubhouse operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manages the pro shop, driving range and clubhouse contract with the private vendor for golf courses.
• Monitors monthly and annual reports to ensure that pricing, services and programs, marketing, and customer service provided by the private vendor increase play and profitability of the courses.
• Develops biennial budget and monitors performance for full cost recovery.
• Evaluates and recommends solutions to complex management and maintenance problems to ensure efficient systems, operability, and profitability.
• Responds to public inquiries regarding golf course operations, maintenance and operations, and events.
• Responsible for all site risk management and quality control of the golf courses.
• Recruits, selects, supervises, manages, supports, and evaluates professional, technical and seasonal golf course maintenance staff, provides direction, ensures resolution of problems; sets priorities, establishes workloads and provides support in decision-making.
• Coordinates maintenance schedule with Assistant Superintendent weekly and daily. Identifies deficiencies in operations, maintenance and service delivery systems, and develops corrective programs.
• Oversees maintenance programs (Audubon, First Green, tree removal, water monitoring, etc.) and prepares annual plans.
• Coordinates equipment orders with fleet operations and oversee management of equipment fleet for both golf courses.
• Establishes capital project plan and schedules implementation as necessary.
• Participates in evaluating blueprints, providing project management and working directly with contractors on golf course related projects while coordinating with the public and the private vendor.

Supervision Received and Exercised:
• Works under the general supervision of the Enterprise Manager.
• Exercises supervision over technical and maintenance staff and oversees the performance of private contracted vendor for pro shop, driving range, and clubhouse operations.

Requirements:
Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a golf course setting. Experience should include oversight of maintenance staff, negotiations with and oversight of a private contractor, and project management of capital improvements in the golf course setting.
Graduation from high school or a GED equivalent.
Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
WSDA pesticide license required within 3 months of employment.
Must pass a criminal background check prior to hire.
Ability to work collaboratively with a private vendor to understand and respond to trends in golf, develop strategies to grow the game, and creatively manage the course to maximize revenues in traditional and nontraditional uses of golf course facilities.
Ability to look to the future and collaboratively develop a long-term vision for the golf courses by challenging the status quo, improving what exists and creating new approaches to business practices.
Ability to organize, analyze, interpret and evaluate problems and provide practical, cost effective solutions; ability to juggle multiple priorities; ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, contractors and the public, both orally and in writing.
Ability to provide leadership, counsel, motivation and constructive performance reviews to staff, securing their respective commitments to the program goals through a shared leadership approach.
Ability to develop a biennial budget in cooperation with the outside vendor and monitor the pricing, customer service and programs to ensure that the golf courses are successful and profitable.
Considerable knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in golf course maintenance.
Knowledge in the proper and safe techniques of golf course maintenance;.
Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
Knowledge of safe use of pesticides and other landscaping materials.
Knowledge of turf management principles and environmental practices.
Knowledge of project management principles, maintenance and construction techniques.
Ability to read blueprints, maps and as-built drawings.
Skills in using a personal computer.

Compensation:
$71,845.08 – $99,127.33 per year.
