2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Course in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina is looking for a 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
Assists Golf Course Superintendent and First Assistant Superintendent in maintaining golf courses as world-class facilities for the pleasure of members and guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares daily assignments.
Works directly with Staff to see assignments are performed to level needed.
Maintains the irrigation system in good operating condition.
Makes decisions in absence of Golf Course Superintendent and First Assistant Superintendent.
Trains employees to perform duties.
Oversees and conducts special projects as needed.
Calibrates and operates spray equipment as needed.
Oversees the safety of golf maintenance equipment and operations.
Prepares biweekly time cards for personnel.
Responsible for carrying out plans made by the Golf Course Superintendent and First Assistant Superintendent.
Sees that maintenance employees operate equipment is a safe, effective, and efficient manner.

Requirements:
Two-year Degree in Turf Management or related area; and two or more years related golf course maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background experience as Spray/Irrigation Technician needed.
Good knowledge of chemicals used for golf course maintenance.

Failure to perform the job responsibilities to the level needed for a world-class golf course can lead to a major negative economic impact on the resort. Increased resort revenues from repeat customers as well as additional resort business can result from high levels of performance in the job.

Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with Maintenance Staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.

Maintenance Skills – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry as required in the job.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Reasoning Ability – Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems involving suppliers, equipment, and supplies in a timely and effective manner. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to make quick, correct decisions in the absence of the Head Golf Course Superintendent or First Assistant Superintendent.

Skills and Knowledge – Must be able to operate and train others to use heavy machinery, irrigation equipment, and spray equipment. Must be able to use computers in the job.

Social Skills – Must be able to communicate well with others inside the company (pro shop, staff, other golf course employees, and management) as well as with people outside the company (members, guests, vendors, etc.).

Compensation:
$38,000.00 – $42,000.00 per year.
